World Book Fair 2020 starts on 4th Januaryon Jan 07, 2020 Asia’s largest World Book Fair 2020 has started from 4th January 2020 and will continue till 12th January 2020. The 28th edition of the book fair was inaugurated by the Human Resource Development Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank. The Book Fair has opened its gates at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi and the timings are from 11am till 8pm. The cost of the entry ticket is Rs.10 (children) and Rs.20 (adults). There is free entry for school children who are in school uniform, senior citizens and differently-abled. This year, the theme of the fair is ‘Gandhi: The Writer’s Writer’. Over 600 exhibitors are participating in the event and presenting the books of different languages like Hindi, Bengali, Maithili, Malayalam, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu. Around 1300 stalls have been set up as a part of the book fair. International authors and publishers are also taking part in the #WorldBookFair and attending several events. Delegates from countries like China, Denmark, Saudi Arabia, the UK, Sri Lanka, Germany, Poland, Spain, Iran, Egypt, Nepal, the US, France, and the UAE are part of the annual event. There is an ‘author’s corner’ in every hall where authors are launching their books and participating in discussions and interviews. Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia came to attend the event on the first day. Actor Prem Chopra launched the book named ‘Prem Naam Hai Mera, Prem Chopra’ on the second day of the book fair. Day one witnessed a pretty decent footfall as lots of people came to attend the book fair. Children with their parents, college students, youth, senior citizens, were spotted happily attending the event and buying their favourite books from their favourite publisher’s stall. Mythology, fiction, non-fiction, educational, comics, poetry, ghazals all kinds of books were present in a crazy variety for all the readers. There is also a separate section for the kids. There are interesting and creative educational games on the stalls in the kid’s section. There are also the stalls of ebooks, audiobooks and learning books present in the book fair. As people are developing a keen interest in Netflix, Books on Netflix series are also available in a few stalls. Cultural programmes, children’s activities, discussions, international programmes and book releases are there to engage, surprise and delight the audience. The ongoing book fair is a paradise of books where a reader can find the perfect book of his/her choice.
